The 'Double Tourbillon 30°', Greubel Forsey's first invention, features two tourbillons, one rotating inside the other.

An original creation: The Double Tourbillon 30° Asymétrique is a deliberately extrovert interpretation of the first invention by Greubel Forsey.

Immediately identifiable by its asymmetrical nature, this special edition is also distinguished by a different movement construction and by an unconventional display of the power reserve and the seconds, entirely separate from the original DT30°.

The most striking new feature is the fact that the Double Tourbillon 30° mechanism can be observed in its entirety, from both the front and sides, with a spectacular rotation of the two Tourbillons in a stage setting featuring a black nickel backdrop. The circular opening in the dial and the lateral window provide a full view of the double cage, free of any point of attachment other than the two essential wheels: the larger of them supplying the system with its mechanical energy, and the other transmitting the passing of time...

So as to maximise visual access to the mechanical splendour of the invention, the Tourbillon bridge takes up only half the space it normally does, thus enabling unobstructed observation of the 128 parts composing the Double Tourbillon 30°.



Efficient displays and the Art of detail:



The Double Tourbillon 30° Asymétrique features a dial that is technical, contemporary and characteristic of Greubel Forsey, with a small seconds sector subtly offset at 6 o’clock, equipped with a double-arrow seconds hand that is useful in following the 60-second rotation of the small Tourbillon carriage over the two concentric scales.

The equally original power-reserve gauge indicates, by a mobile disc, the remaining time available via the twin barrels. As it drops towards the red zero and the "Empty" zone, this system clearly warns that it is soon time to wind the watch. The three-level dial further enhances the richness of this model, which also plays an intricate game of differential heights for each counter: in all, there are no less than eight different planes enlivening the dial that is easily readable in view of the density of its components.

The case-back also conveys the modern "high-mech" spirit of the piece, enhanced by a sizeable opening of the finely grained barrel-bridge enabling one to admire the size of the twin barrels which feed the power to Double Tourbillon 30°. Greubel Forsey has given the mainplate an innovative semi-brilliant surface finished in black nickel and which highlights some of the essential components such as the original design of the bridge, the barrels, the gear-trains and the signature Greubel Forsey finishing details...
