Extremely Rare & Highly Collectible - Audemars Piguet "Deadbeat Seconds" & Escapement - Rose Gold 47mm

The Millenary Manual Winding Movement with AP Escapement and "Deadbeat Seconds" (or "Jump Seconds)- a remarkable achievement for a mechanical wrist watch.
This watch features:

* Silvered textured guilloche dial.
* Blued applied Roman numeral hour markers.
* Blued skeleton hands.
* Small seconds sub-dial at the 7 o'clock. This small seconds hand features the "Dead Seconds" complication.
- The Dead Seconds Complication: With regular mechanical watch the beats per hour (vph) interpret into the frequency the seconds hand advances - giving the seconds hand the perception of smooth motion AKA "the sweep seconds hand". With the dead seconds complication the seconds hand jump every second (much like a quartz watch). This complication is achieved through am additional going-train driven by a second barrel. AP devised a system with two
superimposed seconds-wheels driven by a "differential", one is free and moves steadily forward at the rate of the VPH, while the other carries wolf's teeth and moves in jerks – hence the jumping seconds.
* The new AP High Efficiency Direct-Impulse Escapement is proudly displayed on the dial side of the watch. The benefits of this new escapement are considerable:
- No need for lubrication on the pallet-stones.
- Detached single-beat escapement: A single impulse corresponds to two vibrations, thus decreasing disturbance to the rate and promoting extremely high efficiency.
- Direct impulse on the balance: The energy is transmitted directly from the escapement to the balance instead of via the lever, thereby reducing energy losses and increasing efficiency.
- High efficiency: In a movement equipped with a Swiss lever escapement, the latter absorbs 70% of the energy. The system developed by Audemars Piguet absorbs only 50%, representing a considerable gain in efficiency compared to a classic movement.
- Excellent shock-resistance: The meticulously developed shape of the various parts (especially the guard-pin) and their ultra precise machining guarantee optimal security against "tripping" and "over banking".
- Long-term stability: The tests conducted over the past five years have shown that this escapement displays excellent operational stability.
- Improved accuracy/chronometry: the isochronism of the sprung balance may be adjusted by shifting the locking-point in relation to the impulse provided by the balance; a reduction in mechanical disturbances to the balance improves the overall precision of the movement.

Born in 1958

Born in Switzerland on July 11th 1958, of an Italian mother and a Swiss father, Franck Muller was raised in a multicultural environment. From a very early age, he develops a growing interest for all mechanical devices. It does not take long before the young Franck starts to disassemble all the machines in the house to study their "hearts". During his teens, he collects antique astrological instruments that he buys at the flea market. Mechanics and time, an equation reveals itself naturally: it is Time to which he is going to devote himself.

School of Watch Making

He enters the famous Geneva School of Watch making in 1981. After 4 years of remarkable studies, he receives the highest distinction and prizes. Faithful to his independence of state and mind, he chooses the most difficult path: to create his own workshop instead of joining a brand or a group of watchmakers. It does not take long before his reputation is made: gifted by exception technical talent, auction houses and collectors from all over the world send him their treasures for restoration.

Creating the Start

After a few years in this field, he starts the creation of unique timepieces under his own name. Throughout his studies and first years as a watch restorer, Franck Muller comes to a conclusion regarding the horology world: since XIXth century, few technical inventions have been developed and applied to wristwatches. Willing to change this situation, he decides to devote his work to the realization of unique timepieces, wristwatches to be specific, which offer the same level of technical feats as those presented in pocket watches. This prerogative becomes a goal that the young entrepreneur will always hold at hearth.

The First Wristwatches

In 1983, after months of research and micro-mechanical tests, Franck Muller is proud to present his first wristwatches. They all present a complicated movement that has been entirely created by him.

World Premiere Once a Year

As of 1983, Franck Muller unveils a World Premiere once a year: the gifted watchmaker reveals his invention, may it be a Tourbillon (1983), a Tourbillon with jumping hours (1986), a Tourbillon with Minute Repeater (1987), an inverted Tourbillon with Minute Repeater and Perpetual Calendar (1989), etc...

The Watch Making Genius

In 1992, the man that is now called by his peers the "watchmaking genius" has the privilege to see one of his models granted the exclusive title of "most complicated wristwatch in the world". This unique timepiece is forever in the history of Fine Watchmaking for never before has such a complicated wristwatch been made: Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater for the hours, quarters and minutes, a Perpetual Calendar programmed to the year 2100 with date, day of the week, month and monthly retrograde equation, leap-year cycle, 24-hour moon phase indicator, indicator of the internal temperature of the mechanism.

Rare Ref 2508 - all-original - investment standard

This is a beautiful, very rare Rolex vintage chronograph watch [Ref 2508]. Dating from the late 1930s, the watch is in very good, all-original condition - a collectors dream. All parts of the watch are original to each other; it is all correct in every way. You are welcome to view the watch in central London, by appointment. This is your chance to own a very special, premium collection standard watch. If you are a collector you will know that very few original, correct Rolex chronographs from this era come to the market. Relatively few were made and the majority are held in collections. If you are looking for a financial investment you should consider this watch as it will only rise and rise in value. I have seen steel Rolex vintage chronographs on sale for double my price.
	The watch features a steel case, excellent, crisp hand wound Rolex movement and a beautiful original, unrestored cream dial. Attached to the leather strap is a genuine steel Rolex buckle. The watch comes complete with a new, high quality presentation case. The watch was photographed under less than ideal light conditions so you can expect it to be better in reality.
	Such is the high quality of the watch, I will include a one year written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the running order. I also include a professional insurance valuation, in excess of my asking price. Also, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days if UK customer, fourteen days if overseas, in the same condition. Case	The steel case is in very good, bright condition, with the kind of wear you would expect from an unrestored watch of this age. It measures 34mm wide, excluding the original winding crown and original pushers x 41mm long, including the lugs. The case back closes correctly and firmly and the edges of the top and bottom are in good condition, showing that the case has always been opened with care. The outside of the case carries the Rolex coronet emblem, which you can make out in one of my photos. The inside is correctly signed ‘Rolex', ‘Geneve Suisse’ and the ‘2508’ case reference number.
Dial	The beautiful original, unrestored dial is inveryt clean condition, with a bit of spotting, as you would expect. It is a little more cream in colour than photographed. The dial is signed 'Rolex’ and ‘Antimagnetic’. The original steel hands, including centre seconds hand, are in good, unbent condition, as is the lens, which may or may not be original [I believe it to be original but it is impossible to be 100% certain].
Movement	The hand wound Rolex movement is simply stunning. It is in beautiful crisp condition, as you can see. It is excellent quality, as you would expect, and is signed ‘Rolex’, ‘Swiss made’ and  ‘Fab suisse’. The movement has just been serviced by a master watchmaker and is in very good working order, with all functions working correctly.
Strap/Buckle	The watch is on a used non-Rolex leather strap, attached to which is a later genuine Rolex steel buckle. The watch comes complete with a new, high quality watch case.
	A simply superb watch from one of history's most famous names; serious collection standard. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
