Heddon Uncataloged color 150 minnow ****RARE****

START Bid: US$ 1,100.00
Bids : 5
Winning Bid :
US$ 1575.00
Description:

For your consideration a Gorgeous Heddon 150 minnow. This I believe is a 1933 issue due to that being the 1st year Heddon used saddle toilet seat hardware on the 150 series minnows.

The paint scheme is just fantastic having a wide caramel color stripe on its back and just a beautiful green/yellow sidescale finish on the body. Even though one eye has a HAIRLINE the eyes look great.

This is truly a rare lure and is at least ex- since it is so rare and in such fine condition, despite the hairlined eye. The only other minnow exactly like this one I have ever seen was sold at the Langs auction on April 18th 2010 (lot,#1907) and it had a worm burn on its belly, and it sold for $1500.00. Shipping and insurance will be paid by me.

USPS priority mail and well packaged in a box  Have a look at this beauty. I will include a copy of  the listing data of the identical lure that was sold at the Langs auction referenced above, you can also go to Langs Auction site on the internet and look for the April 18th, 2010 auction pages, look for lot #1907.  http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/7265789

RARE HEDDON LURE #1500 DUMMY DOUBLE,GREEN CRACKLE BACK!

START Bid: US$ 0.99
Bids : 19
Winning Bid :
US$ 1,307.99
Description:
RARE, VINTAGE HEDDON #1500 DUMMY DOUBLE

THIS AUCTION IS FOR A VERY RARE HEDDON #1500 DUMMY DOUBLE MINNOW IN THE SUPER TOUGH "GREEN CRACKLE BACK" FINISH.  THIS IS THE LARGER VERSION OF THE #1500, THE LURE MEASURES 3 3/8" IN LENGTH.

BOTH GLASS EYES ARE PERFECT, NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR HAIRLINES.   THE EARLY GREEN CRACKLE BACK FINISH RETAINS ITS FULL GLOSS, "LIPSTICK WET" SHINE.   THERE ARE NO POINTERS, CHIPS OR RUBS IN THE FINISH.  HAND PAINTED GILL MARKS.  HARDWARE IS FANTASTIC, BRIGHT AND SHINNY, THE DUMMY DOUBLE HOOKS AND HARDWARE ARE SOME OF THE NICEST I HAVE EVER SEEN.  ANY BLEMISHES SHOW CLEARLY IN THE PHOTOS.
I HAVE GRADED THIS LURE AS "EXCELLENT MINUS".  I WOULD HAVE GRADED THIS RARE PIECE AS "EXCELLENT" BUT, IT APPEARS TO HAVE A VERY LIGHT COAT OF OLD OVER VARNISH ON IT.  I HAVE BLACK LIGHTED THIS LURE AND COMPARED IT TO ANOTHER IDENTICAL DUMMY DOUBLE FROM MY COLLECTION AND IT BLACK LIGHTS PERFECTLY.  THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF ANY TOUCH UPS IN THE FINISH.  THIS LURE IS BEING SOLD "AS IS", "FINAL SALE" AND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN PRIVILEGES.  WHO EVER GETS THIS RARE BEAUTY WILL NOT BE Disappointed IN IT, IT SHOWS FLAWLESSLY.
THIS IS A INCREDIBLY NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE EARLY MINNOW.   IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO UPGRADE THIS ONE!!
THIS TOUGH BAIT IS BEING SOLD WITH A VERY REASONABLE $500 RESERVE
Comment:
Seller got more than he bargain for. Good for him.

Heddon Dowagiac Minnow No.100 in Wood Slide Top Box

START Bid: US$ 9.99
Bids : 28
Winning Bid :
US$ 1,574.99

Description:
Here is a nice find.  Antique Heddon Dowagiac Minnow in Original Wood Slide Top Box and paper work.  Fancy Back No 100.

No rust on the hooks or hardware.  Glass eyes have no cracks or damage.  The props are unmarked.  A few stains on one side of the lure, probably from laying on the paper work insert all these years, may come off but I haven’t tried to clean it.  A couple of hook pointers and the paint around the belly weight has cracked.

The paper insert is stiff and has come apart.

The two piece dove tailed box has a few dark stains and a couple of faint age cracks on the lid but the stenciled wording is bright and bold for its age in my opinion.

Overall, the lure and box are in good shape for something 100+ years old.  Cool old lure would display great in your collection.

The top of the box reads:
THE “DOWAGIAC MINNOW”
Patented April 1, 1902 and other Patents Applied for by
JAMES HEDDON & SON
DOWAGIAC MICHIGAN
NOTICE HOW THE HOOKS ARE HUNG
No Interlocking   Instantly Detachable Catches More Fish

The side of the box reads:
“The success of the ‘DOWAGIAC’ minnows has called out many cheap imitations.  Make sure the words ‘HEDDONS’S DOWAGIAC’ are on the box when you buy.”

End of the box reads:
HEDDON’S“DOWAGIAC” MINNOW FANCY BACK No. 100

Comment:
This is a work of art for over 100+ year Heddon lure. Nice work to the old guys!! In today technology with plastic injection, the box alone the box properly cost more to make than the lure.

Heddon Dowagiac Vamp Lure Goldfish Absolutely Stunning

Starting Bid : US$ 0.99
Bids : 25
Winning Bid :
US$ 1,009.99

Description:

This auction is for a Heddon Dowagiac Vamp Lure. Every now and then I get a lure sent to me on consignment that makes me sit back and say WOW. This is one of those lures. I hold and touch a lot of lures and I can tell you folks ones like these are few and fare between.
Ive taken enough pics at different angles for you to get the point that this wooden, series 7500, glass eyed lure is a gem. Lure comes in one of the most sought after Heddon colors, Gold Fish.
Lure has L Rig hardware and correct lateral stencil. Lure condition is super nice as shown. Please view all the pictures. This would make a nice addition to any vintage or antique lure collection.

James Heddon and Sons Antique Lure Makers 1902 - Current/EBSCO

Much can be said as to how Heddon the giant fishing lure company survived, adapted, and changed the fishing lure industry forever.
In essence James Heddon a humble man who was initially a Bee Keeper living in Dowagiac Michigan, whose roots were in England had an idea and executed a plan in an industry which was ripe for change.
Though James Heddon alone was not solely responsible for the success of his antique lure empire by any means.
With the help and leadership of his sons William and Charles who was a sales mastermind. Heddon and Sons along with great inventors on the staff such as William Stolley, Heddon would revolutionize the fishing tackle industry, and certainly our hobby of collecting old and antique fishing lures forever.

Comment:

This Heddon lure will be a great find for the new collector. With its rear find the bid finalized it true value. 5 to 10 years down the road it will value more.
