Rare Abercrombie & Fitch Co. Fishing / Pocket Knife

START Bid: US$ 50.00
Bids : 12
Winning Bid :
US$ 325.00
Description:

Up for auction is this early Abercrombie &  Fitch Co. Fishing Pocket Knife. I was told by the owner who had this knife for many years that it dates back to around 1917 or so but not sure. I have not been able to find another one like it.

The knife measures 4 1/4 inches with the blade closed, the knife is in very good condition but there is a little rust in places and a very tiny nic near the end of the blade, handle is excellent.

The blade is marked Rodgers Cutlers to His Majesty on one side and an asterisk and cross type symbol England on the other. It is quite unique and has the little fishing weight scale that does work. Blade is marked Rodgers Cutlers Please email any questions. Shipping does include insurance.

Comment:
Abercrombie & Fitch History
There have been three retailers called Abercrombie & Fitch and the current A&F shares only its name with the original business. Founded in 1892 in Manhattan by David T. Abercrombie and Ezra H. Fitch, the original Abercrombie & Fitch was an elite outfitter of sporting and excursion goods, particularly noted for its expensive shotguns, fishing rods, and tents. In 1976 Abercrombie & Fitch filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, finally closing its flagship Manhattan store in 1977.

The name was revived shortly thereafter, when in 1978–79, Oshman's Sporting Goods, a Houston-based chain, bought the defunct firm's name and mailing list. Oshman's relaunched A&F as a mail-order retailer specializing in hunting wear and novelty items. It also opened shops in Beverly Hills, Dallas, and (by the mid-1980s) New York City. Finally, in 1988, Oshman's sold the company name and operations to The Limited, a clothing-chain operator based in Columbus, Ohio.

The current version of A&F sells mostly clothes instead of pith helmets or elephant guns, and describes its retailing niche as an aspirational "Casual Luxury" lifestyle brand.

EARLY - ASHAWAY ZANE GREY LINE SPOOL - SWASTIKA

START Bid: US$ 9.99
Bids : 10
Winning Bid :US$ 58.77
Description:

ASHAWAY "ZANE GREY"
EARLY LINE SPOOL

EARLY SWASTIKA BRAND
I am pleased to offer this rare ASHAWAY ZANE GREY line spool
with the early swastika logo - pre-WW II

Ashaway adopted the swastika logo because it was an old Native
American good luck symbol.  Unfortunately, Hitler also decided
to use this symbol for other other purposes forcing Ashaway to
drop it from there branding.

This wonderful old line spool is 2 5/8 inch long and 2 5/8 inches
in diameter.  The spool has both of its old labels which show some age
and no holes.  The spool is about than half full of unused
Zane Grey linen line.  The label states it is 18 thread line
that would test over 54 pounds wet.  It is a 200 yard spool.

A great display item or fill up one of your vintage
Coxe, Vom Hofe or Kovalovsky reels with the line.

Comment:

Even a used Zane Grey fishing line will fetch a good price.

Heddon Dowagiac Vamp Lure Goldfish Absolutely Stunning

Starting Bid : US$ 0.99
Bids : 25
Winning Bid :
US$ 1,009.99

Description:

This auction is for a Heddon Dowagiac Vamp Lure. Every now and then I get a lure sent to me on consignment that makes me sit back and say WOW. This is one of those lures. I hold and touch a lot of lures and I can tell you folks ones like these are few and fare between.
Ive taken enough pics at different angles for you to get the point that this wooden, series 7500, glass eyed lure is a gem. Lure comes in one of the most sought after Heddon colors, Gold Fish.
Lure has L Rig hardware and correct lateral stencil. Lure condition is super nice as shown. Please view all the pictures. This would make a nice addition to any vintage or antique lure collection.

James Heddon and Sons Antique Lure Makers 1902 - Current/EBSCO

Much can be said as to how Heddon the giant fishing lure company survived, adapted, and changed the fishing lure industry forever.
In essence James Heddon a humble man who was initially a Bee Keeper living in Dowagiac Michigan, whose roots were in England had an idea and executed a plan in an industry which was ripe for change.
Though James Heddon alone was not solely responsible for the success of his antique lure empire by any means.
With the help and leadership of his sons William and Charles who was a sales mastermind. Heddon and Sons along with great inventors on the staff such as William Stolley, Heddon would revolutionize the fishing tackle industry, and certainly our hobby of collecting old and antique fishing lures forever.

Comment:

This Heddon lure will be a great find for the new collector. With its rear find the bid finalized it true value. 5 to 10 years down the road it will value more.
